OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Construction of new classrooms and washrooms at HIPAfrica are COMPLETE

It is difficult to describe how ridiculously happy we are for Livingstone Kegode, Fredrick Manzugu, and the children of Kimilili as we see the three beautiful new classrooms of the HIP Academy. In October 2016, we heard that if we couldn’t raise over $16,000, up to 60 students would no longer be able to attend school in Kimilili, Kenya. It was a long road, but thanks to all of YOUR support, these students will still be able to receive the education they deserve. To everyone who was involved, thank you - and to Livingstone and Fredrick - thank you for all you do for the children and families of Kimilili.

To celebrate today, Open World Cause volunteer Jeremy Gulley celebrated the classrooms grand opening at HIPAfrica and funded a field trip to Mt. Elgon to celebrate with HIP’s staff and students.

Today officially completes our 2 year, worldwide campaign to save the HIPAfrica school in Kenya, a campaign that would not have been possible without the 50 classrooms from around the world that joined our endeavor, and the countless teachers and students who donated and volunteered their time, and the visionaries at HIPAfrica, including headmistress Brendah, administrator Freddy, and school director Livingstone Kegode. Your efforts have brought 3 new classrooms, a computer lab, and 2 new washrooms to HIP — all of which meet Kenya’s new zoning standards.

Thank you to everyone involved for showing us the power of students and teachers from around the world.
